Plane geekyness with Music – Oshkosh 2009

Being a proper plane geek, I follow Flightblogger – the increasingly well known Jon Ostrower.

He posted this by slickhutto … Its a great compilation of the amazing flying displays at Oshkosh with a great soundtrack by The Killers

Skodas and trams

Given that this blog is called Planes Trains and Music, I thought it timely to return a little closer to the theme.

My great friend Christine has taken some wonderful photos – check them out here ChristineWehrmeier.com

But this photo from Prague is my favourite! For the spotters out there… they are both originally Tatra designs.

An image that sums up my joy following Obama’s win

Yes I am a boy and representations of the world in Lego really do speak to me. But this is gold – you have to agree.

A great bit of film

My friend Damien shot the Trailer for the Sydney film festival this year. Its amazing so I thought I should share it with you. www.damiencassar.com.au

Solace….

A Quantum of Solace….

Yes that’s right. Its time to talk about the new James Bond film. Given that this blog is given over to all kinds of spotting pursuits, it will come as no surprise to you that I am a serious James Bond fan. So naturally I am very excited about the impending release of Bond 22.

I think that Daniel Craig has formed into a wonderful modern Bond. Washing away much of the bad pun humour that filled the later Brosnan films, Craig represents a clearer embodiment of the character that Fleming depicts in Casino Royale, a charming, strong, physical character, not a man of gadgets and distractions.

Any how. Enough of that … here is the trailer.

Holy Pictures – Northern Irish Sounds

One of my most favourite artists in the world is David Holmes. He is a Belfast boy best known for his work on Steven Sodherberg’s Oceans films, his DJing around the world and compilations (Come Get It, I Got It – Anyone?)

Now he is back with an album of his own work “Holy Pictures” which you can listen to on the official David Holmes Myspace page. I really think this album is magic and will be in my iPod, as soon as I can find it here in Sydney (you really do need to support your local retailers some times… !)

new MacBooks…. the business (but expensive)

I like it... do you?

Ok, so I am a becoming a bit of a geek and apple obsessive, but I had to share my joy about the launch of the new MacBooks. Now the challenge is to see if I can put my hands on one!

If you are someone who is really into music, design, and life… a mac is the way for computing! (if only they supplied them for work!)

The Trons – the best kind of NZ band

A colleague sent me something about this band today. It is a band entirely comprised of Robots. To read more check them out here The Trons – Coming soon… or watch this clip.

Fitzroy – The signs of the town

Another part of our Melbourne trip was a night time excursion to Fitzroy and dinner at St Judes Cellar (Wonderful, try it out… Restaurants with bottle shops in the front!)

Anyhow, came accross some rather wonderful little images I wanted to share.

Grafitti fun from Melbourne

We were in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, and as I was guided around the city by the nice people from Hidden Secrets tours in Melbourne. They showed us a heap of cools stores and told some really wonderful stories about the place (we were lucky enough to have the founder Fiona Sweetman do the tour for us).

Here are some pics (mainly graffiti… )
